Welsh Dish Dresser

Product Description

Welsh Dish Dresser

This month's furniture feature is not so much a category of early Upper Canada furniture as it is an example of the evolution of the dish dresser (see September Furniture Feature).

Many variations of the dish dresser evolved over the years in different regions; the example pictured to the left is patterned after those that were typical in 18th century Wales. As the use of ornate china became more popular, the design of dish dressers in England and Wales became more refined.

Notice the spice drawers in this Lattimor House reproduction of a Welsh dish dresser. Lattimor House reproductions of dish dressers provide an excellent showcase for china or everyday dishes, and are also very functional for storage either in the kitchen or dining room area.
